What is the best management of our patient’s seizure disorder? Please join us as the Jefferson Area Veterinary Medical Association presents Dr. Bill Bush, VMD, DAVCIM (Neurology) of Bush Veterinary Neurology Service at the Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Bush will discuss the best management of seizure disorders through a presentation on the three major questions in any seizure consult:
- Is the event likely to be a seizure?
- Can we find and specifically treat the underlying cause of the seizure?
- And, what is the best anti-epileptic drug for a particular patient?
- Can we find and specifically treat the underlying cause of the seizure?
- And, what is the best anti-epileptic drug for a particular patient?
Videotape and EEG results will be used in the discussion of seizure vs. seizure-like episodes but the majority of the talk will focus on the use of the next generation of seizure medication – Zonisamide, Levetiracetam, and Pregabalin.
This event is approved for 2 hours of continuing education through JAVMA.
