This sweet girl is Izzabella. She is an 11 year old dachshund who was referred to Dr. Neary by Dr. Shell at Butler Creek Animal Hospital earlier this month for hind limb ataxia. Rest and medications alone had not been enough to manage her symptoms, so an MRI was recommended.

Izzabella underwent an MRI which revealed a disc extrusion at T11-12 to be the cause of her symptoms. That same day, a hemilaminectomy was performed. Izzabella was already weakly ambulatory again and very comfortable and able to be discharged the next day.
Two weeks after surgery, Izzabella returned to us and she is doing great! She is walking much better and continuing to show improvement. Most importantly, she is pain free! Congratulations, Izzabella!
