This precious boy is Mickey! He came to BVNS Atlanta in July when his owners noticed that he was reluctant to jump up or down, was hesitant to walk down the stairs, and appeared to be in pain. After a neurological examination performed by Dr. Neary, an MRI was recommended.

The MRI revealed that Mickey had a Type 1 disc extrusion causing severe spinal cord compression. Mickey had surgery that same day where Dr. Neary performed a hemilaminectomy at the affected site. Mickey was able to go home just 2 days after his surgery and has been doing extremely well!

Here he is at his staple removal, just 2 weeks post-op. He was strongly ambulatory with some moderate pelvic limb weakness but he was very comfortable. We’re happy to see Mickey doing so amazing in his recovery at home! Thank you to Dr. Heather Emert at Kennesaw Mountain Veterinary Services for referring Mickey to us.
