Sam Whipple

In May of 2014, Sam presented to BVNS for evaluation of a 1 week history of rapidly progressive decline in mental status and coordination. His examination mostly pointed towards a left forebrain lesion. His MRI showed evidence of a massive inflammatory response to a mass lesion in the left side of his forebrain. In May 2014, a left rostro-tentorial craniectomy was performed by Dr. Higginbotham. Following surgical biopsy of the intracranial mass lesion, Sam has done well.

The final fungal culture revealed Cladosporium as the fungus present in his granuloma. Sam came back to BVNS for an annual recheck neurological examination on March 31. We are very pleased with Sam’s response to the surgical procedure and treatment! He is largely in remission and is truly a miracle case!
