Your First Visit

Before Your Visit

Your family veterinarian will provide us with your pet’s records prior to your visit. Reviewing this valuable information helps to ensure that we are familiar with your pet’s case and the important work your family veterinarian has already completed. You will also receive a call the day before your visit so that we can provide any pre-visit instructions.Professional PicturesLisa Helfert 001

Your First Visit

When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by a staff member, asked to fill out a client information form and you and your pet will be escorted to an exam room. If there is any need for you to wait, please enjoy the coffee, tea and free WiFi that many of our locations offer. If you have any questions at any time please ask one of our team members.

Once you and your pet are comfortable, our team will take a medical history along with your pet’s vital signs and our team will perform a thorough neurologic exam.

Once this examination is complete, we will discuss the possible causes of your pet’s symptoms with you along with treatment options and likely outcomes. This examination and discussion typically take about an hour but can extend to several hours depending on results of the exam and testing that we recommended. Following the completion of any recommended testing, we can discuss and begin treatment.

When your pet is ready to go home we will discuss their recovery, medications and all other elements of their care with you. A copy of this information is also provided in writing to you and your veterinarian. Before you leave, our staff will answer any and all questions you have.

Following your visit, we will always be available to answer your questions, no matter what time of the day or day of the week it is. Our team will continue to work closely with your family veterinarian to ensure your pet receives expert care throughout their treatment.
