When Dr. Waite of The Oncology Service adopted Baby Smalls as a kitten, he had significant neurologic symptoms. Through nursing care, he improved dramatically however he remained ataxic and eventually began having seizures.
An MRI was performed which showed he had severe hydrocephalus. He had a ventriculoperitoneal shunt placed in order to drain CSF from his brain into his abdomen. He did excellent postoperatively and was able to go home with his mom two days later.
We are wishing Baby Smalls all the best!
