Bobby is a 12 year old Mix Breed dog that was referred to BVNS Rockville in October by Kindness Animal Hospital. Bobby was very weak and wobbly in his hind legs and having difficulty walking. He has a history of intervertebral disc disease and actually had two prior back surgeries performed elsewhere to treat past disc herniations (one in 2011 and one in 2013).

We performed an MRI examination which diagnosed an L1-L2 disc herniation as the cause for Bobby’s sudden hind leg weakness. Surgery was performed by Dr. Lipitz to alleviate the compression on his spinal cord caused by this disc injury. Bobby has made a complete recovery in the weeks following surgery. His family is so dedicated to his care that they elected to go forward with a third back surgery even at the age of 12 years old; and they are thrilled with the outcome!
