Meet our happy patient, Maggie!
When Maggie saw us, she was having difficulty walking and was less energetic/playful than normal. She also had an abnormal gait and head tilt. Dr. Bensfield put her on a steroid, another antibiotic, an appetite stimulant, and an anti-nausea/vertigo, and doxycycline because she was showing signs of spastic tetraparesis and vestibular system dysfunction.
A few weeks later, when Dr. Jarboe saw her for a recheck (pictured below), Maggie was nearly normal! Maggie will continue her meds for several weeks. Her diagnosis was meningoencephalomyelitis of unknown cause (MUE) likely immune-mediated vs. infectious. We are happy to see that Maggie is feeling like herself again!
