Charlie came to BVNS Atlanta in July when his owners noticed that he was slower to walk and reluctant to get out of his bed. Charlie started getting progressively worse over a short period of time. He came to the Cherokee Emergency Veterinary Clinic where he was ambulatory, but paretic. He deteriorated to the point where he could not feel his back feet. He was then sent to BVNS for a consult and an MRI.
An MRI of Charlie’s thoracolumbar spine revealed he had a disc extrusion at L2-L3 causing spinal cord compression. Dr. Akin performed a hemilaminectomy surgery the same day to get Charlie back to his normal self as quick as possible. Charlie was able to be discharged the next day after surgery.
Here is Charlie at his staple removal and he is doing great! He is walking well with sling assistance and he is getting stronger every day! Thank you Dr. Andrew Tripp at Bartow Animal Hospital for your referral of Charlie!
