Duke came to BVNS Springfield in May when his owners noticed that he refused to move from the couch and found that he was unable to walk.
It was determined that Duke had a stroke in his spinal cord or a low volume disc rupture causing a spinal cord contusion/bruise. Both conditions do not require surgery, and have good prognoses, and are generally non-painful. Duke went home on an NSAID and a mild analgesic.
At his recheck appointment, Duke was doing great! He has improved nicely from his initial injury and we expect continued improvements over the coming months.
