Rascal Foundation

We are proud to support non-profit organizations that benefit the pet community through financial and in-kind medical donations. These organizations include the Rascal Foundation, a non-profit organization founded to support clinical research that advances the diagnostic testing and treatment of companion animals with neurological disease.

Created by William Bush, VMD, a board-certified veterinary neurologist and neurosurgeon at BVNS, the Rascal Foundation was created to recognize the critical role that advanced imaging and diagnostics played in the life of Rascal, a former patient of BVNS.

Rascal’s Story

A very special patient named Rascal was treated for granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis (GME), and was the inspiration that led to the founding of the Rascal Foundation.

In severe pain and barely able to walk, Rascal was brought to BVNS to be examined by Dr. Bush in 2006. The use of our onsite MRI and onsite diagnostics helped Dr. Bush make a rapid and accurate diagnosis. Within a few days of treatment, Rascal was already showing great improvement and went on to experience an excellent quality of life for many years. He passed away in 2016, ten years after receiving treatment. The Rascal Foundation will be a legacy to carry on to help many other animals with neurological illness or disabilities.
