rocky2Rocky is a 4 year old Chihuahua who came to BVNS Richmond after being bitten on the neck by a large dog visiting the household. He came in tetraplegic, extremely painful and having difficulty breathing.

Rocky’s MRI showed a fractured C1 vertebrae with pieces of the bone embedded in the spinal cord. His owner’s pursued surgery to remove these bones despite a 50/50 chance of not making it through the procedure. He was discharged several days later with only weak movement of the limbs. At the time of his suture removal, he was weakly ambulatory.

We are happy to report that at his 6 week recheck, Rocky was ambulatory and just as ornery as he once was. Success!!
