This handsome fellow is Sazarac. He is as smooth, small and brown as the drink he was named after! This photo was taken at his two-week post-operative recheck and staple removal appointment. Honestly, you wouldn’t know that he had surgery if it wasn’t for the incision site! He walks fantastically and has been off of pain medication showing no signs of pain.

After Sazarac’s owners woke up to find him in their closet unable to move his hind limbs, he came to BVNS Atlanta. Dr. Neary performed a neuro exam and suspected disc disease. An MRI was performed confirming an acute disc extrusion at L3-L4 causing severe spinal cord compression and internal concussive injury. A hemilaminectomy was performed and he went home two days later, already stronger than his pre-operative state!
