This sweet girl is Lucy. When Lucy came to BVNS Atlanta in the beginning of October, she was very sensitive to touch in her back area and was becoming restless through the night.
Dr. Akin performed a neurologic exam and suspected intervertebral disc disease. An MRI was performed and showed evidence of a disc extrusion at L5-L6 causing moderate spinal cord compression. Immediately following her MRI, Lucy was transferred to surgery where a hemilaminectomy was performed. After just one night in the hospital, Lucy was much more comfortable and she went home the next day.
This is Lucy at her 2-week post-op recheck and suture removal appointment. She is walking normally and wagging her tail again!
