Pictured is Sasha, a 9 year old Peekapoo at her 6 week post operative recheck examination. Sasha was referred to BVNS Rockville by VCA Old Town Animal Hospital for being acutely unable to walk and painful in her back.
During the initial examination, Sasha was almost paralyzed in her hind legs. Dr. Lipitz performed an MRI examination of her mid-back (thoracolumbar spine) and diagnosed an intervertebral disc herniation causing severe spinal cord compression.
Sasha underwent a hemilaminectomy surgery that same day. She has recovered fantastically well and is now pain free and neurologically normal 6 weeks later. Her owners and our staff at BVNS are thrilled with her recovery!
